A CHANGE in the drugs laws is on the cards - if the young people of Bolton have anything to do with it.
Secondary school pupils are being asked to put forward their own proposals for a change in legislation on drugs.
The best idea will be chosen by council officals and will be debated in the council chamber by pupils and the borough's three MPs, David Crausby, Dr Brian Iddon and Ruth Kelly.
The event is part of this year's Local Democracy Week which begins on Monday.
Afterwards, there will be a question and answer session on a range of other topics with the council's three party leaders, Cllrs Barbara Ronson, Cliff Morris and Alan Rushton.
Among the schools taking part are Sharples, Smithills, Mount St Joseph's, Bolton Muslim Girls' School and Rivington and Blackrod Sixth Form. Around 100 pupils are expected to attend.
