THOUSANDS of pounds worth of horse riding equipment has been stolen from stables across the borough in a spate of burglaries.
Thieves hit Pearlbrook farm, Crown Lane, Horwich, on Tuesday, stealing saddles and horse bridles worth £1,750, between 1.50pm and 2.50pm. Blackrod farm Crowshaw House was targeted on Wednesday afternoon when a saddle worth £1,000 was stolen between noon and 1pm.
Police believe the equipment may be being stolen to order. Sergeant Ian Coop said: "The equipment is relatively specialist and may be offered to people who have a knowledge about horse riding."
