CHORLEY maintained their 100 per cent record although but were severely tested by the home side who applied all the pressure and soon opened out a 12 point lead.

It was only when the first half drew to a close that Chorley's front eight started to gain control in the loose play, backed up by powerful scrummaging and dominant lineout.

With just seconds left in the half they drove the home side off their own scrummage ball, and number eight Andy Kavanagh picked up the ball and drove on.

Fast recycling allowed the backs to be unleashed and in a flurry of champagne rugby Simon Frost crossed the line in the corner to chalk up Chorley's first points. With the missed conversion the score at half time sat at 12-5.

After the break Chorley's tight five wreaking havoc at the set piece and the backs were only denied by some suspect refereeing. With the end of the game looming, Chorley forged up the pitch again and, from just outside the home team's 22, scrum half Chris Highton popped up an inside pass to the charging Kavanagh, who romped over the line under the posts leaving an easy conversion for Sam Keane to level the scores at 12-12 with just five minutes left. From the restart, debut boy Steve Handsford collected the ball and secured the possession. With the forwards and backs combining effectively, Chorley again found themselves five metres from the line and victory.

With another ruck formed loosehead prop Richard Roberts picked up and lunged for the line. With the driving assistance of fellow forward Matt Weaver, the Salians' defence was breeched for the third time and victory secured.
