WELL now, there is Adam Griffiths of the Red Lion in Over Hulton, front page news (Friday, October 8) and looking pretty pleased with himself in front of his well-polished bottles.
Not for him the traditional impartiality of Mine Host - he's jumped straight into the front seat of the bandwagon.
This champion of the licensed trade will lead the fight to oust the demon smoker from possibly his last comfort zone - the local. And who can blame him.
Imagine, no more having to eject a chap who's had one cig too many, no more fights in the car park or driving offences under the influence of nicotine. No more throwing up in the toilets by under-age smokers and no Friday nights spoiled by binge smokers indulging in unruly behaviour.
No nasty cigarette butts in our streets lurking beneath the crisp packets and chip papers. Bolton will lead the way to a quieter cleaner environment with the publicans out front!
