TRAFFIC diversions will be in place in Horwich for this year's lighting of the civic Christmas tree.
Diversions are expected to be in place at the Crown roundabout between 5pm and 7pm on Friday, December 3.
Motorists using Chorley New Road, Chorley Old Road, Crown Lane, Lee Lane and Bolton Road will be affected by the diversions.
Horwich town clerk, Linda Challender said: "We have been saying for several years that the roundabout is not safe for people attending the annual service.
"On a dry night we can get up to 200 people, so this year we have secured police diversions to create a safe area between the roundabout and the Crown Hotel."
The tree lighting ceremony takes place at 6pm.
