FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at an electrical sub station in Farnworth on Tuesday afternoon.
They were called to Gas Street shortly before 3.30pm after wiring in the United Utilities sub station short circuited and caught on fire. It took two hours to extinguish the blaze.
Repair work to the sub station is not expected to be completed until later today.
Electrical power to homes in Farnworth was not affected by the blaze. No one was injured.
