THE popularity of long-haul destinations means people are paying more to holiday abroad this Christmas, according to new figures from the Bolton independent travel agency, Travel Counsellors.
The Churchgate company's latest pricing data shows that the average booking price for its customers holidaying over the festive period has increased by 58 per cent to £3,251 compared to £2,057 for departures in the same two week period last year.
In contrast, the average booking price paid by its customers over the year as a whole has increased by just 11 per cent from £1,189 to £1,324.
