Leigh RMI 1 Carlisle United 6 by David Magilton: "NO more Mr Nice Guy", fumed Phil Starbuck after watching his side humiliated by high-flying Carlisle.

Neither the manager nor assistant Gary Kelly tasted a 6-1 defeat in their playing careers but the pair were left embarrassed and angry at the way RMI rolled over and surrendered.

Leigh's defence has leaked in 14 goals in the past three matches and that calls for desperate measures and Starbuck is prepared to act, and act quickly.

He has already brought in young centre-half Chris Robertson on loan from Sheffield United and will have former Burnley, York and Norwich keeper Paul Crichton between the posts on Saturday.

"I am completely embarrassed, disappointed and disgusted by the lack of commitment in the second half," he said. "We are weak physically and mentally. We are great about talking about the game at half-time but then we let them dominate us all over the park.

"Things are going to change and if the players don't like it they can leave. No more Mr Nice Guy. It is the same old story.

"We did so well in the first half but then we gave goals away.

"We need winners out there and we need some pride and players who will take responsibility and care about putting on a Leigh RMI shirt. We have to see what money we can free up and see who we can bring in."

Carlisle, the only unbeaten team in the Conference, and just a point behind leaders Barnet, started their rout after just 12 minutes, Brendan McGill grabbing possession and striding forward before shooting into the top corner.

Leigh equalised through Gareth Stoker's long range lob in the 34th minute, but just after the interval McGill scored his second and then Tom Cowan tapped home for 3-1.

Chris Billy made it four before Peter Murphy struck from 20 yards a minute from time and Craig Farrell thumped home the sixth in time added on.
