BRASS band fans will be in their element on Saturday September 4, when Manchester hosts one of the largest brass band festivals in the world.

The seventh Great Northern Brass Arts Festival takes place at the Bridgewater Hall and will showcase the world's finest brass bands, ensembles and soloists. The Black Dyke Band, Grimethorpe Colliery Band and the Fodens Band will be playing in the Gala Evening Concert starting at 7.15pm.

Also in the Concert will be some of the world's finest brass soloists, including the cornet virtuoso Roger Webster, principal cornet of the Black Dyke Band.

The Festival starts at 10 am with brass bands marching from the Bridgewater Hall around the streets of Manchester.

The concert at 4.15 will feature one of the most famous bands in the world - the Brighouse and Rastrick Band.

In addition, there will be piazza concerts and foyer performances.
