YOURI Djorkaeff's number is finally up at the Reebok.

The legendary Frenchman, who has turned down Wanderers' offer of a new one-year contract, has had his coveted number six shirt allocated to new signing Gary Speed.

Djorkaeff adopted the number six shirt as his own in his World Cup and European triumphs with France and his UEFA Cup success with Inter Milan and, after wearing '12' when he first arrived at the Reebok in February 2002, he has worn it for the past two seasons.

The fact that he has not been allocated a number on the official squad list is a clear indication that, although the club's offer is still effectively on the table, Djorkaeff, who is now 36, will not be returning.

Errant Brazilian striker Mario Jardel has not been given a number, even though he still has a year left on his Bolton contract. The "unlucky" number 13, which he was happy to wear when he arrived from Sporting Lisbon in a blaze of publicity last August, has not been allocated.

Of the other new signings, Michael Bridges will wear 8, Radhi Jaidi will wear 15, Les Ferdinand 23 and Tal Ben Haim 26.

Fernando Hierro and Julio Cesar are awaiting international clearance before being allocated their squad numbers.

Both are expected to feature in Sunday's showpiece friendly against Inter Milan at the Reebok if their clearances come through in time, Cesar having passed his medical on Friday.
