BOUNCERS at a Blackburn town centre club found an extending baton in a man's pocket when they stopped him leaving with bottles of beer.
And Blackburn magistrates warned the 26-year-old Bolton man that a custodial sentence may follow despite accepting that he had forgotten about the weapon after finishing work as a security guard.
Akeel Ahmed Khan, of Warwick Gardens, Morris Green, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon. The case was adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and Khan was remanded on bail until August 26.
Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said a doorman at the Stage Door pub had stopped Khan from leaving the premises with a bottle in his hand and two in his pockets.
"He thought he could see another bottle in his pocket but that turned out to be this extendable baton," said Mr Ainge.
Lisa McClaren, defending, said the baton was small and Khan had forgotten he still had it in his pocket when he left work.
"There is no suggestion that he was brandishing this weapon or threatened to use it in any way," she added.
