A HORWICH man has proved himself to be a star after reaching the semi-finals of a talent competition.
William Stuchbury, aged 58, of Berne Avenue, won the weekly heat in Pontin's "Starquest 2004" competition. Mr Stuchbury impressed the judges at the Ainsdale Beach, Southport, with a rendition of the Elvis Presley song "Wonder of You". He won £20 and has been invited to enjoy a VIP weekend at Pontin's, Blackpool, to take part in the semi-finals on the November 26.
The grand final on November 28, will feature a star host and cabaret.
The winner will get the opportunity to record a five-track cover album in a recording studio including photography.
