THE website at Bury Council has risen to the top of a national league table for the accessibility of local authority websites.
It is now rated fourth best in the country -- up from last year's 207th place -- in the June 2004 UK Local Council Web Sites Report.
Computer experts Sitemorse tests every combination of each council page and identifies problems, the speed of the site, and e-government compliance.
Alison Annable, the council's head of IT, said: "The survey shows that the website is being built on firm foundations and everything we do to improve the site will be reliable and efficient."
