THE top two in the Bolton Association stage a title showdown at the weekend.

Leaders Elton have a ten point lead over Atherton, who have a game in hand, but when the two sides meet on Saturday, 20 points from a win will certainly give the top of the table a different look.

And if neither fails to achieve that, then third placed Darcy Lever will be doing their best to make up their 12 point deficit on the leaders with a win against Astley & Tyldesley.

Neither match is a foregone conclusion, but Elton know that if they can get the better of Atherton, then it would go a long way to deciding the final destination of the championship trophy.

They will again be looking to pro Dexter Fitton to ram home their home advantage but Atherton feel that this could be their big chance to grab the initiave for the final run-in.

Champions Walshaw will also be keeping their eye on the title tussle, but their best chance of honours this season look to be in the Cross Cup.

The Association's major cup final comes is on Sunday when they meet Clifton in the final at Adlington, but before then, the fourth placed club will be keen to keep in touch on the leading clubs by coming away from Golborne with maximum points.

For their part, Clifton, are also looking to pick up a confidence boosting win ahead of the final when they entertain Adlington, although the Chorley side should be back to full strength this week, after a number of player absences results in them becoming the only side this season to have lost to bottom club Lostock.
