THE Howarth family's attack on Leigh Harriers' club records runs on.

Lauren lowered her own club U15 girls' 800m best to 2min 20.04sec at Stretford, the second time in two weeks she has smashed the 20 years old record.

Father John, holder of the over 40 men's 800m record, turned his attention to the 1,500m and took the 10 years old previous best with a fine 4min 14sec.

John, who has hit a winning streak, was first O40 home in the Platt Fields 10k in 33min 58sec and in the Horwich four miles around Rivington finishing 16th overall in 22min 50sec.

Grandad Derek was also in top form at Platt Fields to be first O70 home in 44min 55sec.

Scott Hughes lead the harriers to third team place after crossing the line in third in the Horwich four miler after finishing second the previous week in the Haigh Hall five.

Phil Foster clocked his fastest time of the season at Horwich to be placed 11th in 22min 3sec.

Alex Urmston took the U17 victory in 23min 47. Other results were Jimmy Cook 48th, Joe Cooke 95th and Steve Ruffley 110th.

Another member of the athletic Howarth family, Rebecca, stormed home to win the ladies' U17 race with sister Lauren second and Sarah Cain running a personal best.

At Platt Fields the harriers' schoolgirl star Hannah Warburton continued her 100 per cent record in the Manchester Grand Prix races collecting her fourth U15 victory and defeating Lauren into second spot.

Rebecca finished runner-up in the U17 event and making steady progress Isaac McCann was third in the boys' U13 event, followed home by Tom Powell in sixth.
