Woman, 18, stole swimsuits

A SINGLE mother attempted to smuggle two swimsuits out of a sportswear shop by hiding them in her baby's pushchair, a court has heard.

Mariana Danila, aged 18, of Langdale House, Halliwell, pleaded guilty to stealing two Speedo swim suits worth a total of nearly £50 from JJB Sport, in Bradshawgate.

Bolton Magistrates Court heard Danila had been seen acting suspiciously in the sportswear shop and was seen picking up swim suits. When she tried to leave the store she set off the alarm system and was called back into the shop.

She admitted to staff she had stuffed one swimsuit into her one year old son's push chair, as he lay inside.

Danila was fined £40 and ordered to pay £20 legal costs.

When Danila attempted to leave the store a second time, she again triggered the alarms and it was discovered she had stuffed a second swimsuit in the push chair.

She told magistrates she was living in Bolton alone with no friends. She said she had been living in London until recently after arriving in the country from Romania.

Danila was fined £40 and ordered to pay £20 legal costs.
