GANGS of kids and youths hanging around on street corners are now becoming the bane of modern society. The rising tide of "gun culture" as recently highlighted by the Bolton Evening News shows a more sinister aspect.

More bobbies on the streets may be a start but what about re-opening some of Bolton's derelict pubs as youth pubs which could sell non-alcoholic drinks and concentrate on attracting youngsters who usually say they have "nothing to do" and "nowhere to go".

At the same time how about closing down all the gun shops and increase the penalties for possessing fire arms.
