A BOLTON MP congratulated the town's prostitution forum for the way in which it manages the vice problem in the town during a speech in Parliament.

Brian Iddon, who believes the laws regarding prostitution are in need of reform, was speaking just days after the Government published a consultation document on the issue.

He said the Bolton Prostitution Forum was set up after prostitutes moved into a residential area, leading to a flood of complaints from householders.

Mr Iddon said: "Prostitution is connected with drugs and there have been 14 suspicious deaths in that small area.

"Two prostitutes, Carly Bateman and Danielle Moorcroft, aged 17 and 21 respectively, were recently murdered there.

"However, we now have a forum which offers a strategic approach to managing prostitution back into the traditional area - the light industrial estate.

"No one lives there, so apart from businessmen in the day time, no-one has a serious problem with prostitutes operating in the area. I congratulate the Bolton prostitution forum on its mature approach to a difficult problem."
