AGE Concern is aiming to give its Energy Services customers a rebate this month of almost £10 on their gas bills.
The charity's cold weather payment is in addition to the Government's annual winter initiative and is available to all Age Concern's gas customers aged 60 or over.
The payment gives customers the equivalent of an extra two hours gas fire heating free for every day temperatures dropped below freezing this winter.
The rebate covers the period from December 1 to February 29, when there were 46 days that dropped below freezing at a weather station in North Yorkshire.
For more information about the charity's Energy Services package, elderly people can call free on 0800 015 6785, or visit Age Concern Bolton at 72/74 Ashburner Street, Bolton.
