BOLTON Primary Care Trust serves 276,000 people. Its budget for the coming year is £280 million, with around £100 million going to the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Ashton, Wigan and Leigh - the biggest primary care trust in the region - serves 310,000 people and has a budget of £293 million, with £204 million going to local hospitals.

North Manchester trust serves 161,000 people and last year had a budget of £194 million, with £120 million going to hospitals.

Blackburn with Darwen trust has a budget of £174 million this year, based on a population of 160,000. Of that, £100 million will go towards the area's two hospitals.
