POLICe have searched four more homes in Greater Manchester as it was revealed Manchester United have stepped up security checks at Old Trafford after speculation terrorists were planning an attack there.

Extra security checks implemented for the game with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night will be repeated for the visit of Liverpool on Saturday.

It follows newspaper speculation that 10 people held in police raids on Monday all had tickets for Saturday's game which will atract a 67-000-plus sell-out crowd..

The club said Greater Manchester Police had said both games should go ahead.

But it said an increased number of searches would be carried out and warned supporters to get to the ground as early as possible to minimise delays.

Assistant Chief Constable Dave Whatton said: "Today (Wednesday 21 April) Greater Manchester Police has executed a further four search warrants at addresses in Tameside. It is part of the ongoing operation, which led to 10 people being arrested on Monday.

"The warrants have been granted under the Terrorism Act 2000. Searches are continuing at a number of addresses as part of this operation.

"Last night warrants for further detention of the 10 people were granted by

Manchester Magistrates Court."
