A 14-year-old girl has been missing for nine days, sparking fears for her safety.

Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of Leah Holland, who is described as being "very vulnerable".

The youngster, who looks older than her years, was last seen getting into a silver vehicle with a male driver at Crompton Lodges on April 12.

She last spoke to her family three days later, and appeared to be under the influence of drink or drugs.

The teenager, of Highfield Road, Farnworth, has been missing from her home in the past, but returned after a few days.

It is believed the teenager may think she is in trouble over the disappearance of a mobile phone, but police say her family just want to hear from her. Sergeant Bill Crittenden said: "Leah is obviously a very vulnerable girl, and we are very concerned for her safety. We desperately want her to get in touch with us or a member of her family." Anyone with information should call police on 0161 872 5050.
