BOLTON'S rising middle distance star Rachel Pounds completed a memorable Easter when she won the Mini London Marathon on Sunday.
The 14-year-old Bolton Harrier beat 200 elite young British runners to win the three-mile curtain-raiser to the big race by 100 metres. Her latest success is further evidence of her growing status as one of Britain's most promising runners.
The previous weekend she produced the best run of her life to take bronze in the British U15s Cross Country Championships, crossing the line just one second behind the winner.
Now the Turton High School pupil, who lives in Bromley Cross, has enjoyed a national triumph, completing the last three miles of the senior marathon route.
