HENRIK Pedersen appears to have failed in his dream of making the Danish squad for the European Championships.

Denmark coach Morten Olsen on Tuesday named his squad for a friendly against Scotland in Copenhagen on April 28 and despite being alerted to the form of the Wanderers striker, who has scored four goals in five games, decided against picking him.

The 28-year-old, who won his one full international cap against the Faroe Islands in August 2000, was recalled to the national squad last year but had to withdraw because of injury.

Now, after scoring his ninth goal of the season in Wanderers' 2-0 victory over Spurs, the man from Silkeborg thought he had done his international prospects a power of good.

"It is every player's dream to play in a major championship and I am no different," Pedersen said.

"Whether I will get the chance, I don't know, but it won't do me any harm getting goals in the Premiership."

Pedersen's main aim at the moment, however, is to help Wanderers force their way into a top 10 finish, which he believes would be a well-earned reward for an impressive season.

"It would be marvellous if we could get to the 50-point mark and into the top 10," he said. "That would be a big improvement for the club and show the progress we have made."

Florent Laville and Ricardo Gardner were today expected to get the go-ahead to return to competitive action after fighting back from serious knee injuries.

The pair -- both back in full training after recovering from surgery to repair cruciate ligament damage -- are, however, unlilkely to be risked in the Wanderers reserves for Wednesday's game against Middlesbrough at Billingham Synthonia (ko 7pm).
