A CHARITY which goes into primary schools to help children learn to read desperately needs more volunteers.
Volunteer Reading Help recruits and trains people to go into schools to work with children on a one-to-one basis to improve their reading skills and build confidence.
It currently sends 122 volunteers to 65 schools in the Bolton area.
Volunteers need no formal qualifications, should have a passion for books, the patience to listen to children, be able to go into schools for three hours a week in term time and attend a short training course before they start.
They are also looking for volunteers to get involved in fundraising activities. Volunteers meet two or three times a term to organise events.
Anyone who is interested should ring charity manager Gayle Percik on 01204 338053, or write to VRH, Castle Hill Centre, Castleton Street, Bolton, BL2 2JW.
