A CHILDREN'S charity is urging Bolton people to donate books to its shops - after avid readers cleared their bookshelves right across the nation.
Barnardo's is running low on books in its charity shops after interest in book reading dramatically increased to such an extent that some shop managers now have customer waiting lists for certain titles.
Barnardo's cannot explain why customers have become book worms in recent months but its retail division has noticed a dramatic uplift ion sales since the BBC announced the results of its Big Read in December 2003.
The most requested books include Lord of the Rings, 1984, Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter.
