PLANS to downsize the Holiday Hypermarket at Middlebrook have been approved by Horwich Town Council.
Bosses at the giant travel agents applied to split the premises into two, with the holiday business continuing to operate in one half, and the other half tendered out for a similar use.
Despite the decision, resulting in a decrease in the number of employees - currently 35 - Horwich Town Councillors were unable to refuse the application on planning grounds.
Cllr Bob Ronson said: "It is a shame for the people concerned, but unfortunately there are no planning grounds to refuse these plans."
