I REFER to Brian Derbyshire's letter (April 12) and must say how amazed and pleasantly surprised I was to read his very supportive words.
While writing, I must take the opportunity to "carp on", as Brian so pleasantly put it (you know me, I would hate to let you down Brian)!
Even he must admit that the public are feeling let down by this Labour Government and council. People feel let down by increasing tax burden, some 66 stealth tax raises since Labour came to power in 1997, and this, after them making an election pledge of "no tax rises".
People feel let down by failing public services, which Labour promised to improve. You only have to look at Bolton to see how many failing schools we have, and the chronic under-funding of the health service.
So, Brian, if you feel as though you want to back a winning team and "change sides", you would be welcomed with open arms to the Conservatives!
But knowing what your response would be, I will finish by thanking you again for your support with regard to my dieting. I am genuinely grateful.
Andy Morgan
Cllr Hulton Park Ward
