A HAIR and beauty salon that has only been open two months has already been given a prestigious five star award.

Celeste Arnold Hair and Make-up Salon opened its doors in Edenfield on February 2, now it has been awarded the highest honour by the Good Salon Guide.

The Market Place salon is 30-year-old Celeste Arnold's first business venture and she is thrilled her efforts have been recognised in such a short space of time.

Celeste began hairdressing when she was 14 and started a Saturday job with John Peers in Rochdale, where she remained for 10 years, throughout her college training.

She later spent a year at the Charles Worthington signature salon in London cutting the hair of celebrities including Anna Friel, Sophie Dahl and Jamie Theakston.

Having decided she wanted to expand her skills, Celeste joined a make up company before working as a mobile hairdresser and make up artist for three years.

It was only then she decided to set up her own top class salon closer to home.

Celeste, who lives above the shop with her partner, said: "Working in London gave me a lot of ideas about how things can be and I wanted to bring that quality here. I haven't quite go the in-house chef that Charles Worthington has, but it's a start!

"I'm really lucky to get it so soon. I already thought it was five star but I'm biased, so it's brilliant to have someone else think so too.

Celeste runs the business with the help of her two sisters and her dad, John, who acts as her marketing secretary, and has ambitions to expand in the future.

She said: "The premises has the potential to expand to increase the number of beauty rooms, but at the moment I am happy doing what I am doing. I have see how things go really, but I would never say never!"

In addition to the five star award, Celeste is gearing up for the Northern Hairdresser of the Year Awards later this year, in which she has previously reached the final stages.
