CHORLEY Lynx failed to get their league campaign off to a winning start at York on Monday despite scoring four tries.
Lynx conceded 16 points in each half to the home side to nullify tries from Paterson, Ormisher, Ramsdale and Gambles and a goal from Ramsdale.
They face a tough match on Sunday when Sheffield Eagles visit Victory Park in a kick off brought forward to 1.45pm due to the Challenge Cup semi-final in the afternoon. Lynx coach Mark Lee can at least take satisfaction from his side's victory in their final game in the Arriva Trains Cup when they defeated Swinton Lions at Victory Park.
The victory was well deserved as they fought back from an early defecit and despite coming under pressure in the second half they seldom looked like surrendering their advantage. Lee said: "This was an honest victory and it was our discipline and endeavour that won us the game.
"Both teams had players missing but it was good to get the victory and go in to the league programme with one behind us.
"We dug in for long periods in difficult conditions especially when Swinton played some good rugby in the second half. We are improving all the time but injuries have slowed our progress down especially with our ball handling skills which still need some work."
