A DRAMA school founded just two years ago is set to become the biggest performing arts centre in Bolton when its new centre opens in September.

The Fame Factory will spend up to £100,000 refurbishing the former Bolton Post Office sorting office and turning it into a state-of-the art performing arts centre.

The purpose-built centre on Garside Avenue will have four studios decked out with all the latest equipment for students to train in every aspect of performing arts - from singing and dancing through to acting.

The Fame Factory was founded by business partners and friends Lesley Ann Thompson and Joanne Astley in 2002 and caters for people aged from three to 40 years-old.

Mrs Astley, who was a professional singer before she set up The Fame Factory, said: "We will be able to offer the best facilities possible, right here in Bolton. People can further their performing arts ambitions.

The centre is looking for businesses to get involved in the project by donating various building materials. In return, the drama school will name various scholarships after companies which have helped them complete the building work.

Mrs Astley said they needed paint, lockers, lighting, blinds and bars for the ballet room.
