A MUSICAL evening in memory of a popular Bolton entertainer helped to raise more than £100 for a leading cancer charity.
Carl Baldwin died from the disease at the age of 70 last month. The entertainer was well-known locally as an impersonator of singing minstrel Al Jolson.
The evening, which featured show tunes, country music and ballads, was held at the Wellington pub in Bury New Road, Bolton. Comedian Dave Barron was joined by musicians Billy Harper, Geoff Thomas, Claire Carol and Tony T. The event was organised by compere Matt Williams. Money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
