CHILDREN have always run away from home. But these days, the dangers they face are greater than ever.
So, it is worrying that excellent Bolton charity Urban Outreach has lost its cash backing from the Children's Fund, leaving director Dave Bagley in search of funds.
There are 600 reports of missing children every year in Bolton, and as Mr Bagley explains, discouraging them from leaving home not only keeps them safe but also prevents them from getting involved in crime or being exploited in sex work.
I really hope his cash quest is successful. It is organisations like Urban Outreach which address modern family problems at their roots, and allow children to grow up safely.
