JAMIE Moore could be set for a rematch against Liverpudlian Michael Jones after winning back his Commnwealth light middleweight title in Manchester on Saturday night.

Moore, from Walkden, stopped Uganda's Adam Katumwa in the fifth round of the fight at the MEN Arena.

The 25-year-old initially won the Commonwealth and British titles by beating Jones last April, but had to vacate the first after a wrist injury kept him out of action for five months.

Moore won back the Commonwealth title on Saturday with a commanding performance against the previously unbeaten Katumwa, the African light middleweight champion. Now he is waiting for boxing bosses to come up with a challenger for a mandatory third and final defence of his British title.

That challenger is tipped to be 29-year-old Jones, who stopped Leeds fighter Darren Rhodes in the third round of a fight billed as an eliminator for the British title.

Moore had a tough start against Katumwa on Saturday, but fought back with a powerful right jab in round two. His Ugandan opponent was docked a point for illegal use of the head in the third but despite an impressive show by Katumwa in the fourth, Moore launched a series of attacks in the fifth, forcing referee Terry O'Connor to stop the fight.

Moore said: "I found it hard. I've not been able to do much sparring because of my wrist injury and that certainly showed.

"He was also a tough kid, but after a few rounds I found my range."
