BOLTON U15s failed to make it into the semi-finals of the Greater Manchester Schools Woodhead Cup after they lost 2-0 at Broughton on Saturday.
Bolton U14s kept their Greater Manchester Schools' League title hopes on track with a 2-1 win against Wigan.
The local lads dictated the game in the opening period of the first half and went in front after 20 minutes when Adam Grundy (Turton) fired home from the edge of the box, following good work from Josh Guffogg (St James). Bolton secured the points when Dale Warburton (St Joseph's) played a lovely pass to James Winteringham (Rivington and Blackrod), who shot home from the edge of the box.
Bury Under 15s disappointed going down 3-1 to Wigan in their Greater
Manchester Schools' County Cup semi final at the Derby School.
The Bury lads trailed 2-0 at the break and they went further behind in the
second half before Matthew Price (Elton) opened Bury's account following
good work from Ben Price (Elton).
Meanwhile, at county level, Greater Manchester Under 19s have been drawn at
home to either Durham or Humberside in the semi final of the ESFA Premier
League Trophy.
