AN Army bride-to-be who had to cancel her wedding twice last year because of the Iraq war finally looks set to walk down the aisle.

Wedding bells will be ringing out at Bolton Parish Church on Saturday when Lance Corporal Anne Marie Taylor ties the knot with her fiance, Andrew Scott from Durham.

The 24-year-old from Bolton has endured a nightmare 12 months trying to sort out the arrangements for her dream wedding to Andrew, aged 25, a former Army lieutenant who is now a nurse. The ceremony was due to have taken place in March last year, but her big day was put on hold when she was told to be ready to move from her base in York to serve in the conflict.

Anne Marie, whose mum Deborah Taylor lives in Ralph Street, Bolton, desperately tried to reorganise it for Valentine's Day, but had to fly out to the Middle East instead.

After working in the desert as an ambulance and fuel tanker driver, Anne Marie returned on leave last June and tried to hastily rearrange the wedding.

But one month later, the Champagne was put on ice for the second time when she was called out to Iraq again.

She came back in October and set out to rearrange her wedding for a third time.

Now Anne Marie is counting down the days until she weds Andrew in a dream £7,000 ceremony - and start her new life in Edinburgh working in the bomb disposal unit.

"I was absolutely distraught when we had to cancel our wedding," she said. "We had paid for everything and were both looking forward to getting married, especially on Valentine's Day. Having to cancel the wedding a second time was such a nightmare.

"We've been busy sorting out all the last minute preparations and I can't wait for Saturday.

"Bolton Parish Church was where I was christened and it's going to be great to finally walk down the aisle.

"I've booked two weeks off and I'm going to switch my phone off to make sure I don't get called away again."
