EAGLEY completed a double over Fulwood Amateurs in the West Lancs League Premier Division with a 3-2 victory, but only after a tense finish when they conceded two goals in the final 10 minutes.

The Villagers opened brightly and could have taken the lead in the opening minutes but spurned two chances.

The deadlock was broken on 35 minutes, when Neil Mathews fired in after the Fulwood keeper had parried a Carl Grimshaw header. Within three minutes the Villagers were two up after a cross from Paul Jeary was misjudged by the keeper and Craig Taylor blasted into an empty net.

The second-half developed into an even affair, but it seemed Eagley had put the game beyond their opponents when Kevan Hughes scored the goal of the game on 70 minutes with a 25 yard free kick.

Fulwood bounced back with two goals in as many minutes to set up a frantic finale.

On Saturday Eagley 1st XI travel to Burnley Utd, ko 3pm. Eagley 2nd XI have no fixture.
