TEENAGE tunesmiths The Banners have just put the finishing touches to their first album of songs.

The four-strong band has just finished recording the album at Bury College as part of their BTec National Diploma in Music Practice.

The students have also created their own record label, set up a website and organised a major gig for themselves and other bands at the Met Theatre, Bury, on Saturday, March 27.

The Banners, along with other fellow students, had to create a record label and promote their acts as part of their two-year course.

The students created Chargrill Records, which looks after four college groups: The Banners, Jimodigy, Natalie Clinton and Mabootu.

Alex Wright, the 17-year-old drummer for The Banners, from Great Lever, Bolton, said: "We all work really well together. I don't know if our band will stay together, but it would be great if we did."

The Banners also includes lead singer Jonathan Holland, aged 19, from Little Lever; rhythm guitarist Christopher Young, aged 21, from Bury; lead guitarist Roy Haynes, aged 18, from Bury; and bass player Mike Walker, 17, from Harwood.

Natalie, aged 18, from Bury, is a solo artist, as is Jimodigy, aka James Howarth, aged 18, from Bury.

Mabootu are Rob Harris, aged 17, from Bury; Stuart Milton, aged 18, from Tottington; Ben Ashmead, aged 18, from Rawtenstall; and Chris Neville, aged 18, from Bury.
