BOLTON Hospice hit the jackpot at a Las Vegas charity night at the weekend - raising a record-breaking £50,000.

Around 500 guests - including long-term supporter and ex-Coronation Street star Jonathan Wrather, alias Joe Carter - were treated to a showbiz extravaganza at the Reebok's Premier Suite.

Leggy showgirls with feathered head-dresses, bunnygirls and fast-talking MC Frankie Swankeroonie welcomed guests to the £75 a head bash.

And there was even an "Elvis" to entertain, in the form of talented Clayton Marks.

Gambling, including roulette, blackjack and the wheel of fortune, gave a further taste of Vegas.

And an auction for a variety of super prizes, including an outdoor spa, raised thousands of pounds for the hospice which costs £1.8 million a year to run.

Debra Graham, fundraising director there, said they were all "thrilled" at the success of the event, which was the biggest single fund-raiser in the hospice's 12-year history.

"We are also very grateful to organiser Lesley Thompson, to main sponsor Jacuzzi UK and to everyone else who supported us, especially Jonathan Wrather whose long-term support is very welcome."
