BOLTON youngsters took to the catwalk after undergoing radical fashion makeovers.

Six teenagers involved in the Youth Fusion group wowed spectators at a fashion parade to show off new styles created by a team of fashion experts.

The event was organised by Mark Steele, youth worker with the Bolton-based Youth Fusion group, to try and prove how youngsters can transform their lives.

More than 150 children between 11 and 18 years old turned out for the show at Bolton Pentecostal Church, on Bury New Road, on Friday night.

Each of the six contestants was dressed in new outfits from fashion shop DB3 and given new haircuts by a team of stylists from Euphoria Hair.

The eventual winner of the contest and a £100 voucher was 14-year-old Jane Sweeney, from Breightmet, who won most votes from the crowd for her new look.

Mr Steele said: "The event was aimed at getting kids to realise that they can change themselves - whether it's their clothes, their lifestyles or their friends - and give them control of their own destiny.

"We had the place decked out like a catwalk and the atmosphere was brilliant. Everyone really enjoyed themselves."

The Youth Fusion group meets every Friday. All 11 to 18 year olds are welcome. Call Mark Steele for more information on 07808 919834.
