GEORGI Kinkladze is unlikely to figure in Wanderers Premiership campaign this season, even if he convinces Sam Allardyce to give him a contract.

The Georgian international played his second trial game in 48 hours for the Reserves last night, aiming to play his way out of the football wilderness.

Unlike on Tuesday when he impressed in the 2-0 victory over Birmingham, the former Manchester City star was unable to inspire his team-mates, who went down 1-0 to Leeds - the club where he was last on trial.

Allardyce has been running the rule over the 30-year-old, who has been without a club since he left Derby County last summer, and says he is considerably short of match practice.

"He's been out of the game that long, I don't think it would be reasonable to think he could play any part this season," the manager said.

"He wouldn't be fit enough to compete at Premiership level.

"He could play tomorrow if we wanted him because he is not contracted to a club, but he's probably going to need six to eight weeks - effectively a pre-season programme - before he is ready."

Sam Allardyce could be in the disciplinary dock after being asked by the Football Association to explain his criticism of referee Mike Riley following last weekend's Carling Cup Final defeat by Middlesbrough.

If football's top brass are not satisfied with his explanation, they could bring a disrepute charge against the Wanderers boss.
