THE jury in the case of a Westhoughton man, accused of murdering a retired market trader and setting fire to his body in Cumbria, is still considering its verdict.

Terence Cook, aged 54, of Landedmans, denies killing John Harvey from London and dumping his body in a field near Killington Lake Services on the M6.

The 59-year-old trader had been shot in the back of the head.

Cook is accused alongside Savvas Petri, aged 52, of London and his 21-year-old son Theo Petri. All three deny the charges.

The jury retired on Wednesday afternoon following the five week trial and were sent home last night due to continue their deliberations today at 10.30am.

The prosecution at Preston Crown Court claim Mr Harvey had been pressing Petri senior to repay £4,000.

The Petris have admitted they helped to dispose of the body but claim they were not involved in the murder.

Cook claims he went for a drive to Scotland with the two men to collect some money and only found out about the dead body in the boot after they had set off.
