A RETAINING wall at White Lion Brow, on the outskirts of Bolton town centre, is to be repaired and strengthened in an £85,000 scheme to enable it to carry 40 tonne vehicles.
And the left hand turn from Spa Road into Chorley Street will be improved as part of other street improvements in the area.
The work began this week and is due to last for six weeks. During this time traffic restrictions will be in place in order to ensure the safety of drivers and workers on site.
White Lion Brow and Chorley Street will be temporarily closed to traffic travelling from Spa Road and Deansgate. Vehicles will be diverted via Marsden Road and St. Georges Road. Chorley Street will remain open to vehicles travelling into Bolton.
The work is being carried out by J Murphy and Sons of Warrington.
