Wanderers' Greek star Stelios Giannakopoulos is celebrating the latest addition to the Super Whites extended family.

The winger's wife Stella gave birth to their second son Dimitris last week and the footballer immediately said he was delighted the bundle of joy was now a part of the club.

He said: "Bolton is a wonderful family club.

"I can't wait to take him down to the training ground to show the players."

Stelios, aged 29, spent precious moments at Chorley Hospital with his new born son, who weighed in at 6lbs, before travelling with the squad to Sunday's Premiership clash at Aston Villa, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

He jets off to Greece this week to prepare for Saturday's European Championship qualifier against Northern Ireland in Athens. A win will give them automatic qualification to the finals.

Stelios said he had mixed feelings about having to leave England and his son.

"It will be a very great game, a great event in Athens, but in my mind I will always be thinking about my son."

The Wanderers' star, who already has a son, two-year-old Alexandros, did not rule out his new baby one day playing for England.

"If he decides to become a football player, it will be his choice," he said.

Stelios and Stella said they had settled in England thanks to the help of everyone at the Reebok.

There were cards from the players, manager and backroom staff at their hospital bedside.

Dimitris was born at 1.30pm on Wednesday at Sharoe Green hospital, Preston. Mother and child were later transferred to Chorley, which is closer to the family's home in Clayton-le-Woods.

The family say they love their new home in Britain. Stelios said: "The air is much better here than in Athens."

He added: "The birth went fine and everything is great. It was unforgettable for us."

Stella, aged 33, and the baby will be looked after by her mother and mother-in-law while Stelios plays in Greece.
