WIGAN are already counting the cost of their bruising battle with the Bulls.

Inspired by a magnificent and injury-free comeback from star full back Kris Radlinski, the Warriors cruised to a sensational victory over the Super League leaders on Monday, which hauled them back to within sight of a top two finish.

But coach Mike Gregory has been brought back down to earth with a bump, with news that a host of first team players are ready to fill Radlinski's old spot in the treatment room.

Skipper Andy Farrell, hooker Terry Newton and key prop Terry O'Connor are all major doubts for Sunday's trip to Halifax, while luckless front rower Danny Sculthorpe has been struck down by injury once again.

"Faz has a dead leg which needs recovery, O'Connor will need an X-ray after dislocating his thumb and Newton is suffering with the wear and tear of his knee," said Gregory.

"Danny Sculthorpe will be out for about four weeks. He has confirmed rib cartilage damage, which is very painful.

"He's a major loss to us because he is a big part of our squad coming to the end of the season. Hopefully, he will have the play-offs to get some kind of fitness for."

Meanwhile Warriors have followed up their retention of key players Adrian Lam and Craig Smith by keeping Quentin Pongia at the JJB Stadium for another year.

The Kiwi prop has signed a contract extension to take him to the end of 2004 after impressing since signing from Australian side St George mid-way through the season.

"His performances since he joined us have earned him another year," said Gregory.
