A CHORLEY runner is to represent Great Britain at a World Championship mountain race in Alaska next month.
Katie Ingram, an ex-Chorley Harrier now representing Horwich RMI, came second in the trials held earlier this month in Sedbergh, Cumbria, to qualify for the under-20s Junior Women's Trophy Race.
The 18-year-old student from Merefield, Astley Village, will compete in Alaska on September 20-21.
Student Katie, a former pupil of St Michael's, splits her time between studying and training.
She recently gained an A and two Bs in her A-levels at Preston College and will start a Sport and English degree course at Loughborough University as soon as she returns from Alaska.
Athletes have to contribute towards the cost of the event so Katie is looking for local sponsors to help her raise the cash. If you are willing to help you can call Katie on 01257 268357.
