CHORLEY soldiers returned home from the Gulf this week and were preparing to go back to their day jobs as civil servants, labourers and telephone operators.

Twelve Territorial Army medics from the 5 General Medical Support regiment at Devonshire Road Barracks were back in Chorley last week after more than six months away from home.

They were greeted by MP Lindsay Hoyle, his wife Councillor Cath Hoyle, Deputy Mayor Danny Gee and Councillor Ray Parr, who was Chorley's mayor when the group were called up to join the British war effort in February.

Major Tom Ronaghan said: "They're all back now and in one piece which is great. The main thing is they're all safe and we had no injuries.

"I'm very proud of them and I'm glad they're back."
