W ITH regard to the letter in the Bolton Evening News on August 21 "Have they got any beliefs".

With the deepest respect, the church in its current state is a little dated and stale. This system has been in place for more than 2000 years, and churches are closing down and being re-developed mainly due to lack of reform.

I feel belief comes from within, and women should be treated no different to men when it comes to the priesthood. For the church to survive it needs a radical shake up. And no matter it being male or female in the pulpit, the church needs to find a balance between traditional values within modern day living.

May I also enquire -- who are "Easter People"? Is this body who are only religious over the Lent period?
