ST JOSEPH'S SC beat Bradbury Ladies 176-139 to cruise to glory in the Dixon Shield Final.

Bradbury Ladies batted first and were dismissed for 60 runs with no batter reaching double figures.

St Joseph's then rattled off 85 runs to take the lead, with Sarah Abercombie, 33, Avril Bath, 16, Laura Pollitt, 15 and Michelle Patton, ten.

Bradbury showed a marked improvement in their second innings, with Heidi Hilton, 19, Kelly Taylor, 14, Kerry McCoy, 13 and Linda Hattersley, ten in their innings total of 79 runs.

But this still left St Joseph's requiring only 49 runs for victory.

And they made light work of the run-chase, scoring 91 with Sarah Abercombie, 22, Laura Pollitt, 16, Andrea Taylor, 12, Michelle Patton, 11 and Kath Wilson, ten.

Rupert Ladies A took a step closer to the A Section title when they beat Little Lever XI 106-86.

CRS took the honours in Section C after beating second-placed Trafford EHS 108-90.

The Volunteer beat top of the table Bradbury Ladies by a single run 157-156 to stay in touch in Section E.

Astra Ladies beat Lincoln XI 190-187 in Section N.

The result allowed Bolton Castle to draw level with Lincoln on 30 points.

CMB Lostock Ladies of Section O have taken six points from their last three games, along with Lever Bridge Ladies.

Friday evening is the RRG (Bolton) Chadwick Cup Final at Heaton CC, starting at 6.45pm, when Rupert Ladies A play Darcy Lever CC A.

Any play-offs for section champions or runners up will be played week commencing Monday, September 1, at Hulton Lane playing fields at 6.30pm.
