RACE veterans from Esporta Health and Fitness are busy collecting sponsors and getting into shape for Bolton's first ever Race for Life.

And the message is: "If we can do it, so can you."

There is still time to enter this fantastic race for women where the emphasis is on fun and fund raising.

Around 25 members from Esporta, which is based off Waters Meeting Road, have signed up to take part in Bolton's Race for Life on Sunday, June 22, in Leverhulme Park, Bolton.

The Bolton race is part of a series of similar races sponsored by Tesco, being held across the country in aid of Cancer Research UK, where women walk or run together to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK to help cure cancer faster.

Most of the ladies -- who are aged between 25 and 60 -- have taken part in the Race for Life in Preston for the past four years and are delighted that it is now being held in their home town.

Acting General Manager Janine Cox said Race for Life is a really fun event: "I have encouraged my lady members to take part in the race by telling them that they don't need to run they can walk.

"It is a goal to aim for and it is a lot of fun."

Janine said most of her team members were keen to raise money to fight cancer as most of them had been touched by cancer in one way or another.

She said most of her ladies manage to run the 3.1 mile race in around 40 -- 45 minutes.

The Esporta team are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
